my writing

three articles on twitter, all free.

mining cost, delisting experiment, the human layer.

if you've never read me, start with mining cost. the human layer is the one i struggled the most with.

my stuff

ghostdrip.xyz is my main project, anonymous DCA into monero.

@babysolo_ on twitter, that's where i post the most.

bb_sl on soundcloud.

my setup

pixel running grapheneos. mullvad vpn. signal for messages. keepassxc offline for passwords. monero via cake on mobile and feather on desktop.

monero

getmonero.org is the official site. wagyu.xyz/swap is the cheapest place to swap or buy XMR in terms of fees. haveno is a decentralized P2P exchange. retoswap too. monerica lists every business that accepts XMR.

if you only read one doc, read the whitepaper. skip the threads.

cypherpunk

a cypherpunk's manifesto by eric hughes, written in 1993. it's four paragraphs, you can read it in three minutes. privacy guides is a more exhaustive list than mine. eff defends digital rights.

phone OS

grapheneos on a pixel. if you can't run it, calyxos works. if that doesn't fit either, lineageos supports more devices. divestos used to be great but i think the main dev is winding it down so check the status first.

grapheneos.org is the main link.

desktop OS

qubes if you're actually serious about security. tails if you want a live USB that forgets everything. whonix exists too but i haven't used it enough to say anything.

VPN

mullvad. you can pay in cash if you want. ivpn and protonvpn are other options.

DNS

nextdns or mullvad dns if you want zero setup. quad9 works too. dnscrypt-proxy if you want to run it locally.

browsers

on desktop i use librewolf. firefox with arkenfox if you prefer tuning it yourself. tor browser when you need it, not for everything. brave exists and has built-in tor tabs.

on mobile: vanadium comes with grapheneos, mull is firefox with arkenfox already baked in, and tor for android works too.

messaging

signal for everyone. simplex if you really don't want anything tied to a number. briar works peer to peer if you have no internet. session is decentralized.

email

proton or tuta, both work fine. for aliases, simplelogin or addy.io. use aliases ;)

password and 2FA

keepassxc on desktop, keepassdx on android. offline, always. bitwarden if you really need cloud sync.

for 2fa, aegis on android or ente auth cross-platform.

search

searxng if you can self host. brave search otherwise. ddg is fine for basic stuff. startpage gives you google results without the tracking.

cloud and notes

cryptomator encrypts any cloud you use, so you can keep whatever service. proton drive or filen if you want encrypted cloud out of the box.

for notes, i use obsidian, local first. joplin is the open source option. standard notes if you want cloud sync.

maps, keyboard, numbers

organic maps works offline. osmand has more features.

for android keyboard, stop using gboard. try heliboard, florisboard, or openboard.

for burner numbers, smspool handles quick verifications. jmp.chat gives you a real number over XMPP and you can pay in XMR. mysudo is another option.

domain

njal.la. pay in XMR. the only registrar i trust.

file sharing

onionshare over tor when you want it to be anonymous. syncthing for peer to peer sync without any cloud.

metadata

before posting any photo anywhere, strip the EXIF with exifcleaner if you want a GUI or mat2 on the CLI.

anonymity networks

tor, i2p, lokinet.
